Words of kindness are works of kindness, and since they cost so little and are worth so much, we should strew them plentifully all along life's way.

Just because I haven't posted for a while
and I found this over on JK's blog

Rank'em ... the idea is to rank these from your most favorite to least favorite. Here's the original:

1. Reagan, Bush II, Bush I, Clinton
2. Jerry, Kramer, Elaine, George (from what I've seen of the comercials, anyway.I actually like Jerry from those American Express commercials.)
3. Coke, Pepsi, Diet Coke, Diet Pepsi (can't drink diet, the fake sugar gives me wierd vibes.)
4. Paul, Ringo, George, John
5. Peter Tork, Davy Jones, Mike Nesmith, Mickey Dolenz (if you had asked when I was a teeny bopper, Davy would have been #1)
6. Fonzie, Potsy, Richie, Ralph
7. NKJV, NIV, NASV, NRSV (of course nothing is better than the KJV.)
8. Sophia, Rose, Blanch, Dorothy
9. Superman, Superman II, Superman III, Superman IV: The Quest for Peace (really haven't watched any of these.)
10. Rocky, Rocky II, Rocky III, Rocky IV, Rocky V (haven't watched any of these either, no desire to either [even if my sister thinks Stallone is sexy].)
11. John, Luke, Matthew, Mark
12. Psalms, Ecclesiastes, Proverbs, Job
13. Genesis, Exodus, Deuteronomy, Numbers, Leviticus
14. Wonder Woman, Batman, Superman, Aquaman (whoever he is)
15. Ariel, Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, Snow White
16. Chandler, Joey, Monica, Phoebe, Rachel, Ross (Never ever watched this show, don't know them even from the comercials!)
17. Lucy, Peppermint Patty, Linus, Charlie Brown
18. Soccer (is there really any other ball game?)
19. Jack in the Box, Burger King, McDonald's
20. Goofy, Pluto, Donald Duck, Mickey Mouse

A Pastor's Perspective
for Sept. 12 is now online.

Scripture reference: Hebrews 2:8

One of the challenges that confronts us as Christian believers is to keep a proper perspective in our thinking. . . . Read entire message.

What's on Right Now?

What's On 'your mind' Right Now? Gee, I'd like to say nothing, but...

1) How nasty cigarette smokers smell. I have three in my living room. They smoked outside, but still! Pugh! I'm threatening to take the Febreeze to them.
2) Am I going to have to go through the rest of my life wondering if there is going to be anything decent to watch on TV on Saturday night?
3) When am I going to finish reading that one book so I can start one of the umpteen others waiting on the shelf?
4) Who shot J.R.? (Well, maybe not that one.)

Victor shaved his head, bald!

Mind you he did that behind my back and then wasn't home when I got there. He left it to Edward to break the news. Not that I got mad, but he knew I would have said no if he had asked up front. He doesn't look half bad with a shaved head either, but I am not going to tell him that.

Edward cleaned his room

There are now three 33 gallon trash bags full of clothes on the back porch. These are the clothes Ed says he no longer uses. They are going to make a trip to the Goodwill. So many bags makes me wonder if he, in fact has any clothes left to wear. I am not going to go through the bags. That is just too scary a thought.

New Checks

So I order these great checks from Styles Check Company. The set I ordered is based on the Tolkien art of the Brothers Hildebrandt, which I have always liked.

Anyway, the only gripe I have with the set is that contact cards never have enough room for all of the information a person needs to pass out. Company's need to get a clue and start offering double-sided contact cards. As it is, I use the address labels created with Microsoft Publisher and put those on the back.

What is it with children, anyway?

I tell them and tell them and tell them to put things away. Finally, after the umpteenth time I blow a cork and yell at them. What do they do? They get all offended like, really Aunt Debby, all you have to do is tell us. Sheesh!

A Pastor's Perspective for September 5 is now online. This week's scripture Romans 6:4-7

Monday Mambo

Happy Labor Day to all of Mambo-ers in the US of A. So today we are bringing you the Patriotic Mambo.
So everyone make one last mambo around the barbecue grill and then go and put away the white pants! Cos it's Labor Day!

To get us warmed up, a little bit of "I say..... You think...." (music style)

Freedom:Mother
Anthem:Song
Stars:And Stripes
Sea:Shells
Country:Music
Save:Your LPs
War:and Peace
Glory:Hallelujah

Have you warmed up now? Ok then, let's get our Mambo going on.

1. Do you like you're country's National Anthem? If not, what song do you think it should be? I do like the National Anthem, however, I don't know if modern Americans appreciate it. We have not seen war on our own soil in many generations (sans the attack on Pearl Harbor, of course).

2. Are there any patriotic pop songs that you enjoy? What are they? I enjoy Lee Green's 'God Bless the USA.' I also have a great appreciation for Alan Jackson's "Where Were You When the World Stopped Turning?'

3. Holiday weekends are a time for picnics...What kind of music do you like at your picnics? Being dysfunctional, our family does have many family get-togethers and when we do music is not part of it because we are so loud music would be an irritation--couldn't hear it!

4. A lot of music has a message about how the world should be, what song best expresses your world views? Amazing Grace

Arvid Fairbanks griffin hood ornamentWow! What a find. This is the second-hand treasure find for the weekend. I found this griffin hood ornament at my friend Shirley's collectibles shop. I have a dragon collection and just could not resist this handsome fellow. It is marked "Arvid Fairbanks, 1932." After doing some research I found out that Avrid was a quite prolific artist specializing in sculptor. He designed 3 hood ornaments: The orginal Dodge Ram, the Plymouth Flying Mermaid, and the griffin which was for the Hudson Essex-Terraplane. Neat. 1933 Essex-Terraplane
